NBAE Raises Money for Haiti Hurricane Relief
North Broward Academy of Excellence did an outstanding job collecting a large amount of clothing and non-perishable items for the victims of storm-ravaged Haiti. The drive, which occurred from Monday, September 23rd through Wednesday, September 25th, culminated with the Haitian Deputy Consul General in Miami, Mr. Alex Jospite, visiting the school and thanking our parents, students, faculty and staff for their generous giving.
"On behalf of the people of Haiti," said Mr. Jospite, "I would like to take this opportunity to thank your school for its concern about the losses of lives and damages of so many Haitians after the recent hurricanes."
Mr. Jospite said that the donation of goods will go through the Civil Protection Office in order to be distributed to the people of Haiti, left in dire need of food, clothes, and more. "The Consulate wishes the best to all North Broward Academy of Excellence stakeholders, and may God bless every one of them," Mr. Jospite concluded.
Mr. McKnight, the school's principal, stated that this expression of giving helps model awareness in world affairs and helps students understand that they can make a difference through active participation. "I am very proud of our school community and their show of support for Haiti and thank everyone who contributed to show the caring spirit that is evident at NBAE."
NBAE Drama Junior Thespian Troupe
NBAE Drama has reached beyond the stars this year by producing plays and establishing a Junior Thespian Troupe. Middle school students had the opportunity to compete at the district and state level for Junior Thespian. At districts, Milan Bush, Bethany Lefler, Janine Michel, and Melissa Holmes earned an EXCELLENT rating qualifying them for Florida State Junior Thespians. It is no surprise that an EXCELLENT rating was also earned by Bethany Lefler, Janine Michel, and Melissa Holmes at the Florida State Junior Thespian competition. This is the start of a new legacy for the NBAE Drama department and students look forward to prevailing by bringing more merit and honour to our school. Congratulations!

NBAE PTO received a certificate acknowledging their great work and a check for $50. On hand to receive the good news at the November PTO Meeting were Mary Orfino, president as well as several members of the board.
