New Building Groundbreaking

North Broward Academy of Excellence kicked off the construction of their new building by hosting a groundbreaking ceremony.

The ceremony, held on February 1, 2008, brought dignitaries as well as NBAE stakeholders together for what proved to be a very important and enjoyable day.

Broward Sheriff Al Lamberti as well as North Lauderdale Mayor Jack Brady was in attendance as well as members of Charter Schools USA Executive Team, including Jon Hage, President and Chief Executive Officer of the organization.

When completed, the building will add 26 additional classrooms, an enlarged cafeteria space, as well as administrative offices and a boys and girls locker room.

"We are very excited about this expansion and what it means to the community that we serve," said Principal David McKnight. "The school's high academic focus can now benefit more children in this area of Broward County."

Students participated in the ceremony by assisting in the symbolic shoveling of dirt from the site. Varsity NBAE Cheerleaders were also showcased and gave special cheers to commemorate the event. After the ceremony, everyone in attendance was invited by the principal to a reception where lunch was served. "It was a great day and we are excited about what the future holds for our school," noted Mr. McKnight.
