Veteran's Day
All students in grades 3-8 participated in NBAE’s Veteran’s Day Ceremony. Special guests this year included Army Sergeant Watkins, Air Force Technical Sergeant Fort, Retired Marine Sergeant Joseph Motes, and Retired Air Force Colonel Emala each of who shared inspiring words with our students. The program began with the presentation of colors and lying of wreaths by special members of our safety patrol. Mr. Self gave a thought provoking speech about the core values that men and women have held high who have served in the military for over two hundred and fifty years. The school also honored all veterans inside the building with our Wall of Honor which had photos from students, faculty and staff who have friends and family who has served and are serving in the military. This year’s ceremony was very memorable for all who attended.
Shop with a Cop
One of our students was selected to participate in the “Shop with a Cop” event. He was given $100.00 to spend at Wal-Mart. The student was picked up at school by the Broward Sheriff Office.
Giving Tree
Students received gifts from undisclosed staff members for the holidays.
FAU Partnership
NBAE had 4 students participate in a new partnership with Florida Atlantic University. This partnership brought students from the University's electrical engineering department who taught our students about computers; teaching them how they operate, and how they are put together. Our students were able to get hands-on experience in taking each computer apart and rebuilding it. At the end of the day, they were able to take home one of the fully functioning computers they rebuilt. This was a great experience for our students and we look to build on this partnership in the future hoping to bring this opportunity to more students here at NBAE. A special thanks to the FAU IEEE Department and the many donors who gave these computers to our students to work with. GO BEARS!
Festival Fabuloso
Our second annual Hispanic Heritage Festival was a great success. Thank you to everyone who helped out and attended. It was great to see so many familiar faces while supporting our community. The event brought many activities and music for all to take part in. We had a Mariachi band play, a Caribbean band, DJ Rob “RL” Morales, several local restaurants making traditional foods from different countries, bounce houses, train rides, face painting, and many carnival games made the day extremely enjoyable.
