Enrichment Classes
North Broward Academy of Excellence Elementary School and North Broward Academy of Excellence Middle School offers three enrichment classes during the school day. They are: Media, Art and Physical Education. Additionally, NBAE also gives students 150 minutes of structured physical activity per week based on new Florida legislation.
Cheerleading
We are the BEARS, the mighty, mighty BEARS! Come and cheer with us as we root on for our school and help promote school pride. Currently NBAE has three classifications for cheerleaders. The White Squad involves students in Grades K-2. The Blue Squad is students in Grades 3-5 and the varsity squad is for students in Grades 6-8. Please contact Ms. Nina Roundtree for more information on this club.
Intramural Basketball
Middle School Boys and Girls can participate in intramural basketball at NBAE. At present we are looking for a sponsor for this activity. Continue to look at our website for more information updating this area!
League Basketball
The basketball programs at NBAE are new and very excited. We currently offer an interscholastic program for boys and girls at the middle school and an intramural program at the elementary level. Our intramural program is co-ed, while our varsity programs offer an all girls and an all boys team. The basketball season runs from November to Mid-February.
League Flag Football
Football is a brand new sport here at NBAE. Our middle school boys and girls will have an opportunity to compete against other schools beginning this spring. In addition, we are looking to have our elementary athletes compete in a co-ed intramural league to prepare them for success at the varsity level. NBAE sponsors flag football only and the season runs from March to May.
Student Government Association
Members of the NBAE Middle School Student Government Association are encouraged to facilitate positive relations between the faculty, administration, staff, parents and the student body of the school. They will be an example to others by promoting self-discipline, motivation, and excellence in learning. They are encouraged to develop skills that will allow them to become independent, self-sufficient, successful adults who will contribute responsibly in a global community. Because participation in school organizations is a privilege and not a right we expect a higher standard of conduct from our members including:
- Must be passing all of their classes, including their electives and physical education
- Must have a grade point average of not less than a C at the time of application to the SCA and maintain a C throughout the academic year
- Must reflect acceptable personal conduct both in and out of school as defined by the NBAE Student Handbook and the Broward County Schools Code of Conduct
- Must not violate any rule within NBAE Middle School that results in In-School Suspension (ISS) or Suspension
- Must exhibit kindness and caring, respect and responsibility, and fairness and honesty at all times
